The novel use of miniatures (update 3.0)

Just stumbled across another amusing use of miniature figures on Flavorwire. Below is my favorite by Vincent Bousserez.

My good friend and mentor Darius sent along "The Sandpit". Instead of trying to make the small look big, this is an instance of making the big look small with tilt shift and time lapse photography. Awesome! -

Every time I see miniatures used I am captivated and can't help but be intrigued.

I believe there is a real opportunity to use miniatures in storytelling.
